# Learn Basuri — One hole at a time

One finger / one note at a time. After Ma the pattern **resets** for Pa.
Interactive drills: [ladder.html](ladder.html). Full forks and half-holes:
[fingering charts](swaras.html).

## Path map

1. **Sa** — `XXXOOO` · lift nothing
2. **Re** — lift hole 3 only → `XXOOOO`
3. **Ga** — lift hole 2 → `XOOOOO`
4. **Ma♯** — lift hole 1 → `000000` (all open)
5. **Pa** — *stop lifting* · new fingering (bridge)
6. **Dha → Ni → Sa'** — open from the bottom (if Pa = all-closed overblow) or learn high forks later

Rule: Sa→Re→Ga→Ma = open one more hole from the **top**. Pa is not the next open hole.

## Step 1 · Sa

Top three closed. Match the drone. Hold ×10.

## Step 2 · Re

Lift hole 3 only (farthest of the top three).

## Step 3 · Ga

Lift hole 2.

## Step 4 · Ma♯ (tivra)

From Ga, lift hole 1 — all open. (Shuddha Ma = half-hole later.)

## Step 5 · After Ma → Pa (the bridge)

Stop “opening one more hole.” Pa is a new shape.

- Method A: all-closed overblow (`XXXXXX`)
- Method B: `0XXXXX` (top open, five closed)

Detail: [why these are Pa](swaras.html#pa-fingering).

## Step 6 · After Pa

**Method B path** (one finger from the bottom): open downward for Dha–Ni–Sa' when Pa = `0XXXXX`.

**Method A:** solidify Pa, then switch to B for Dha–Ni–Sa' or use [high register](swaras.html#high) forks.

## Notes below Sa (optional)

From Sa, cover more holes downward (one at a time):
`S ,N ,D ,P ,D ,N S`
