the Nārada Bhakti Sūtras (नारद भक्ति सूत्रस्)
प्रमाणान्तरस्यानपेक्षत्वात् स्वयं प्रमाणत्वात् pramāṇāntarasyānapekṣatvāt svayaṃ pramāṇatvāt
The line
Because it does not depend on another means of knowing, and because it is itself a means of knowing.
नेपालीमा
किनभने अर्को प्रमाणको अपेक्षा गर्दैन, र आफैँ प्रमाण हो।
Where it sits
Reasons, still in defining the love. They sit under the love just called easier, and under the primary form that needs no other word.
Split: pramāṇāntarasya (प्रमाणान्तरस्य) + anapekṣatvāt (अनपेक्षत्वात्) + svayam (स्वयम्) + pramāṇatvāt (प्रमाणत्वात्)
Sanskrit, in depth
The words
| Word | Grammar | Sense |
|---|---|---|
| pramāṇāntarasya (प्रमाणान्तरस्य) | genitive singular, neuter | of another means of knowing. pramāṇa (प्रमाण) plus antara (अन्तर). |
| anapekṣatvāt (अनपेक्षत्वात्) | ablative singular, neuter | because of not depending. an (अन्) plus apekṣā (अपेक्षा) plus tva (त्व). |
| svayam (स्वयम्) | indeclinable | itself, of itself. |
| pramāṇatvāt (प्रमाणत्वात्) | ablative singular, neuter | because of being a means of knowing. |
The phrases
Two ablatives of cause, and no new nominative. They give reasons for the love already in view. pramāṇāntarasya (प्रमाणान्तरस्य) depends on anapekṣatvāt (अनपेक्षत्वात्). svayam (स्वयम्) qualifies pramāṇatvāt (प्रमाणत्वात्).
Sanskrit in this line
pramāṇāntarasya (प्रमाणान्तरस्य) plus anapekṣatvāt (अनपेक्षत्वात्) is pramāṇāntarasyānapekṣatvāt (प्रमाणान्तरस्यानपेक्षत्वात्), a (अ) plus a (अ).
