यतः स्वबीजाद् विज्ञप्तिर् यदाभासा प्रवर्तते द्विविधायतनत्वेन ते तस्या मुनिरब्रवीत्
yataḥ svabījād vijñaptir yadābhāsā pravartate dvividhāyatanatvena te tasyā munir abravīt
The line
Since a cognition arises from its own seed with a given appearance, the sage spoke of those two as the two kinds of sense field of that cognition.
नेपालीमा
ज्ञान आफ्नै बीजबाट दिइएको आकृतिसहित उठ्ने भएकाले मुनिले ती दुईलाई त्यो ज्ञानका दुई थरी आयतन भन्नुभयो।
Where it sits
Verse 8 said the talk of existing fields had an intention. Verse 9 says what was intended. Verse 10 says what that teaching enters: the selflessness of the person, and, by the imagined, the selflessness of dharmas (धर्म).

Sanskrit, in depth
The words
| Word | Grammar | Sense |
|---|---|---|
| yatas (यत) | indeclinable | since, from the fact that. |
| sva-bījāt (स्व-बीजात्) | ablative singular, neuter | from its own seed. The bīja (बीज) is the capacity in the stream. |
| vijñaptiḥ (विज्ञप्तिः) | nominative singular, feminine | a cognition. |
| yad-ābhāsā (यद्-आभासा) | nominative singular, feminine | having such-and-such an appearance. yad (यद्) is 'which,' ābhāsa (आभास) is a showing-forth. |
| pravartate (प्रवर्तते) | present, third person singular | goes forward, arises. |
| dvividha-āyatana-tvena (द्विविध-आयतन-त्वेन) | instrumental singular, neuter | as being a sense field of two kinds. -tva (-त्व) makes the abstract. The instrumental is 'in the role of.' |
| te (ते) | accusative dual | those two. The appearing, and the seed it arises from. |
| tasyāḥ (तस्याः) | genitive singular, feminine | of that cognition. tasyā (तस्या) agrees with vijñapti (विज्ञप्ति), feminine. The file joins tasyā munir (तस्या मुनिर्). |
| muniḥ (मुनिः) | nominative singular, masculine | the sage, the Buddha. |
| abravīt (अब्रवीत्) | perfect, or the narrative past used as such, third person singular | he said. From brū (ब्रू), to say. |
The phrases
What the sūtras (सूत्र) call the two āyatanas (आयतन), the organ and the object, are here the seed and the appearance of one cognition. The pair is kept. The object out in front is not.
te (ते) is dual. Hold that. He did not say 'those many things.' He said those two.
Sanskrit in this line
The instrumental of an abstract in -tva (-त्व) means 'as' or 'in the capacity of.' āyatanatvena (आयतनत्वेन) is 'as a sense field.'
