विज्ञप्तिमात्रतासिद्धिः स्वशक्तिसदृशी मया कृता इयं सर्वथा सा तु न चिन्त्या बुद्धगोचरः

vijñaptimātratāsiddhiḥ svaśaktisadṛśī mayā kṛtā iyaṃ sarvathā sā tu na cintyā buddhagocaraḥ

The line

This establishment of cognition-only has been made by me, on the scale of my own capacity. That, in every way, is not to be reasoned out. It is a Buddha's range.

नेपालीमा

केवल विज्ञानको यो स्थापना मैले आफ्नै सामर्थ्यको नापमा गरेको हुँ। त्यो सबै प्रकारले तर्कले निकाल्ने होइन, यो बुद्धको विषय हो।

Where it sits

Twenty verses. The claim was verse 1. The objections were place, time, shared seeing, function, the sūtra (सूत्र)'s talk of objects, the atom, perception, memory, other minds, and harm. The last line does not add a new argument. It says the proof is partial, and the range is a Buddha's.

Split: vijñapti-mātratā-siddhiḥ (विज्ञप्ति-मात्रता-सिद्धिः) + sva-śakti-sadṛśī (स्व-शक्ति-सदृशी) + mayā (मया) + kṛtā (कृता) + iyam (इयम्) + sarvathā (सर्वथा) + sā (सा) + tu (तु) + na (न) + cintyā (चिन्त्या) + buddha-gocaraḥ (बुद्ध-गोचरः)

The phrases

The book states its own size. The argument was made to the measure of the author's power. The thing itself, in full, is not a subject for this kind of thinking. It is what a Buddha ranges over. Verse 21 had already pointed at that range.

tu (तु) turns from the work done to the limit of the work.

Sanskrit in this line

cintyā (चिन्त्या) is a gerundive, 'to be thought.' With na (न), it is 'not the sort of thing this reasoning finishes.' The feminine agrees with sā (सा).

Say it back

Close the book. Say verse 1 from memory, then say what verse 22 refuses to claim.
