# Learn Drums

A drum kit is four limbs playing one part.

Every groove is written as one line of text per kit piece, which is printed as a
grid and played as audio from the same source — so the notation and the sound
cannot disagree.

## The path

1. The kit — the pieces and which limb plays them
2. Reading a groove — the grid, the marks, the counting
3. First beats — the two beats most songs are built on
4. Eighths and sixteenths — one beat at three densities
5. Ghost notes and accents — loud and soft is the whole difference
6. Fills — leaving the groove and getting back to beat 1
7. Grooves by style — rock, pop, shuffle, funk, half-time
8. Practice plan — four weeks, twenty minutes a day

## Notes

The samples are real recordings, one performance per velocity layer, so a ghost
note is a different stroke rather than a quieter one. Credits: samples/CREDITS.md.

No kit needed. A pillow and your knees teach the limb pattern just as well.
