- **Stick Control** (Stone) — hand evenness. Not grooves; the sticking that makes
  grooves possible. A page a day is plenty.
- **Syncopation** (Reed) — reading rhythm. Its melodies get reused as fills, kick
  patterns and comping for decades.
- **The New Breed** (Chester) — limb independence once the basics are solid. Hard.
