# Drum samples

The kit in `drums/samples/` is built from **MuldjordKit**, by Lars Muldjord,
recorded in 2009. This room uses the FreePats edition assembled by
roberto@zenvoid.org, a stereo reduction of the original 16-channel DrumGizmo kit.

## What was changed

Seventeen single hits were selected from the kit's velocity layers and converted
to mono 44.1 kHz mp3 for the web. Layers are numbered soft to loud, so each voice
is a different performance rather than the same hit at a different volume, and
levels are left exactly as recorded — the soft hits are meant to stay soft,
because the ghost-note and accent lessons depend on the difference.

Rebuild with `python3 drums/scripts/build_samples.py --kit <checkout>`, which
lists the exact source file behind every voice.
