# Learn Guitar — Play along

A song on this page is a **progression** — an order of chords — looped against the click. Progressions are not copyrightable; only melodies and lyrics are. No melody, no words. Beginner loops stay at four beats. Intermediate adds barre and 12-bar. Advanced cuts the beats, adds 7ths, and mutes on purpose.

Same idea as [Piano play-along](/piano/songs.html), with guitar shapes. Capo if you need to match a singer’s **Sa**. Roman numerals: [Piano · circle of fifths](/piano/circle-of-fifths.html) and Open Music Theory — I is the home chord of the key.

On the HTML page the player loads a loop, strums each chord, and follows the metronome tempo. Play becomes Stop on the same button. A hash loads a loop (`songs.html#four`, `songs.html#folk`, …) and scrolls to the player.

## Three tracks

- **Beginner** — Four-chord, Ghar, three-chord, waltz, G–Am–D folk. Four beats each. Downs first, then D-DU-UDU.
- **Intermediate** — 50s, relative-minor, Am campfire, lok 6/8, 12-bar. A–D–E, E–A–B7, Am courtyard. Then C–G–Am–F and G–Bm–C–D.
- **Advanced** — 2 beats per chord. Blues with 7ths. Quick-change 12-bar. Chunk on 2 and 4. Read the TAB while you play.

## How a lesson works

Hal Leonard Book 1 treats a song as **changes you can count**. Berklee guitar lab: the right hand stays on the click while the left hand changes.

**Four-chord song** — verse and chorus are the same four bars. Count 1 2 3 4 on each chord; pattern D-DU-UDU when the left hand is honest.

**Ghar loop** — home, away, away-more, home. The three-chord backbone Hal Leonard starts with, written as a Nepali-friendly ghar / home cycle: G · C · D · G.

## Capo and Sa

Keep the G shapes. Move the capo so open G matches the singer’s Sa.

High **e** is the top line — same as the neck on this site. Numbers are frets, not fingers. A lead-sheet count under the letters is the notation of the change. Full staff waits until a page earns a real score.
