# Write grooves over songs

A chart is not a bass part. Climb the ladder: roots → motion → rhythm cell → chord tones → approaches → fills.

Interactive shared charts: `songs.html` (same loops as Guitar/Ukulele Play along).

## Inputs
Chart, tempo/meter, kick feel, section jobs (verse/chorus).

## Worked idea
Same G–Em–C–D: sparse verse, driving 8ths chorus, gallop breakdown — invent pitches; steal only the method.

## Form
Change one variable per section (cell, register, or density).

## Write to the kick
Attacks on kick first; guitar density is optional to match.

## Templates
Four-on-floor · 1+3 · 8ths+ghosts · anticipation · pedal · gallop on roots.

## Checklist
Sing it with kick · clear roots · silence · thinner often wins.

## Ready when

- A chord chart written down as roots, bar lengths, BPM and meter before you invent a single note.
- A verse (roots on 1) and a chorus (driving eighths) for G · Em · C · D at about 90 bpm, with exactly one design change between them.
- You can sing the line while tapping the kick, and bar-line roots land clearly for a listener who cannot see the chart.
- Two recorded takes, and you keep the one that locks harder rather than the one with more notes.
