## String-by-string check

Hold B♭ (3 2 1 1) and pick G, C, E, A one at a time. Dull E: index flat on its soft centre. Buzzing A: index slid back from the fret.

## The full barre — four strings, four chords

Index alone across fret 2 is **Bm7** (open Am7 moved up). Keep it down and add one finger on the A string:

- **Bm7** 2 2 2 2 · **D** 2 2 2 5 · **Dmaj7** 2 2 2 4 · **D7** 2 2 2 3

At fret 4 the same four are C♯m7, E, Emaj7, E7.

## Barres in a song

- In F: **F** 2 0 1 0 · **B♭** 3 2 1 1 · **C** 0 0 0 3 · F
- In G: **G** 0 2 3 2 · **Bm** 4 2 2 2 · **C** 0 0 0 3 · **D** 2 2 2 5

Two strums per chord. Form the barre in the air, on the last strum of the chord before.

## Ready when

- B♭ and Bm ring clear on a string-by-string check.
- Full barre at fret 2 rings; add the pinky for D, Dmaj7, D7 without lifting it.
- Both progressions at 80 bpm with no gap at the barre.
