Sanskrit, in depth
The words
| Word | Grammar | Sense |
|---|---|---|
| anyāśrayāṇām (अन्याश्रयाणाम्) | genitive plural, masculine | of other supports. anya (अन्य) is other. āśraya (आश्रय) is a support, a refuge. Read from the end. Recited with anusvāra (अनुस्वार) before the next word. |
| tyāgaḥ (त्यागः) | nominative singular, masculine | abandonment. The print joins this word to the next as tyāgonanyatā (त्यागोनन्यता), with no avagraha. The table restores tyāgaḥ (त्यागः). |
| ananyatā (अनन्यता) | nominative singular, feminine | the state of having no other. The same word as in the previous line. Restored from the print tyāgonanyatā (त्यागोनन्यता), where the opening a is left unmarked. |
The phrases
The genitive depends on tyāgaḥ (त्यागः). tyāgaḥ (त्यागः) and ananyatā (अनन्यता) are the two nominatives: abandonment of other supports is that state of having no other.
Sanskrit in this line
tyāgaḥ (त्यागः) plus ananyatā (अनन्यता) is recited tyāgonanyatā (त्यागोनन्यता). Visarga before a short a normally becomes o, and the a is marked by an avagraha. This print leaves the avagraha out, so the a of ananyatā (अनन्यता) is not written. The table restores tyāgaḥ (त्यागः) and ananyatā (अनन्यता).
