Sanskrit, in depth
The words
| Word | Grammar | Sense |
|---|---|---|
| lokavedeṣu (लोकवेदेषु) | locative plural, masculine | in the world and in the Veda. The pair from the definition of restraint. Read from the end. |
| tadanukūlācaraṇam (तदनुकूलाचरणम्) | nominative singular, neuter | conduct favorable to that. anukūla (अनुकूल) is favorable, along with. ācaraṇa (आचरण) is conduct. Read from the end. |
| tadvirodhiṣu (तद्विरोधिषु) | locative plural, masculine | in those who oppose that. The same locative as before. The final u joins the next word as ū (ऊ). |
| udāsīnatā (उदासीनता) | nominative singular, feminine | indifference. The same state as before. |
The phrases
lokavedeṣu (लोकवेदेषु) holds both marks. tadanukūlācaraṇam (तदनुकूलाचरणम्) is the conduct that stands there for ananyatā (अनन्यता). udāsīnatā (उदासीनता) again sits in tadvirodhiṣu (तद्विरोधिषु). The two nominatives are the two marks, now placed in the world and the Veda.
Sanskrit in this line
tad plus anukūla (अनुकूल) plus ācaraṇa (आचरण) joins as tadanukūlācaraṇam (तदनुकूलाचरणम्), a plus ā (आ) becoming ā (आ). tadvirodhiṣu (तद्विरोधिषु) plus udāsīnatā (उदासीनता) is again recited with ū (ऊ). The anusvāra (अनुस्वार) of ācaraṇam (आचरणम्) stands before the next word.
