Shared Western theory on the hub — then the book, beginner to advanced: songs first,
then the neck, first lead, harmony and style. Each step says when you are ready
for the next. The daily gym is for reps whenever you want them.
The book · beginner to advanced
1 · Start here beginner
Ready when you can change C–Am–F–G at 80 BPM without stopping and play one Play along song start to finish.
2 · Neck and names beginner+
After you can strum a tune — name the notes, then close the strings with one finger.
Ready when you can name any note on the G and C strings, play B♭ and Bm cleanly, and count a rhythm card.
3 · First lead intermediate
Single-note lines — one scale shape, then your own phrases over a loop.
Ready when you can play major and minor pentatonic from one root, shuffle through twelve bars of blues in C, and invent a three-note cell over a loop that lands on a chord tone.
4 · Harmony on the neck intermediate+
Where every chord lives up the neck, and the seven colours of one scale.
Ready when you can name a song’s key from its chords, play a triad in all three inversions, play one chord shape in two places on the neck, and name each mode’s signature note.
5 · Playing styles advanced
Textures and genres once the core path is working.
Ready when you can learn a tune by ear and play it in a style of your choice, fingerpicked or strummed, at a steady tempo.
6 · Band and studio advanced+
What a working rhythm ukulele player does besides playing the notes — hold the time, serve the song, and record it.
Ready when you can hold a tempo through four silent bars, play a four-chord chart in three keys, and have recorded and mixed one song of your own.
