Learn SarangiNepali sarangi · सारङ्गी
The four-stringed fiddle of the Gandharba, carved from one block of wood: two middle strings droning on Sa while the outer two carry the tune. No frets, so every note is found by ear — which is the hard part and the whole point.

This room is about the Nepali sarangi. Its Hindustani classical
cousin, with three gut strings and thirty-five sympathetic tarab, is a different
instrument — the difference. Every sound here is
synthesised: what that means.
