Sāṅkhya Kārikā / Verses 22–55, the world / 52
न विना भावैर् लिङ्गं न विना लिङ्गेन भावनिर्वृत्तिः लिङ्गाख्यो भावाख्यस् तस्माद् द्विविधः प्रवर्तते सर्गः
na vinā bhāvair liṅgaṃ na vinā liṅgena bhāvanirvṛttiḥ liṅgākhyo bhāvākhyas tasmād dvividhaḥ pravartate sargaḥ
The line
Not without dispositions does the subtle body work, and not without the subtle body do dispositions arise. Therefore creation proceeds in two kinds, called the mark and called the disposition.
Where it sits
Verse 53 and 54 look out at the range of that double creation: gods, animals, humans, and which strand dominates above, in the middle, and below.
Split: na (न) + vinā (विना) + bhāvaiḥ (भावैः) + liṅgam (लिङ्गम्) + na (न) + vinā (विना) + liṅgena (लिङ्गेन) + bhāva-nirvṛttiḥ (भाव-निर्वृत्तिः) + liṅga-ākhyaḥ (लिङ्ग-आख्यः) + bhāva-ākhyaḥ (भाव-आख्यः) + tasmāt (तस्मात्) + dvi-vidhaḥ (द्वि-विधः) + pravartate (प्रवर्तते) + sargaḥ (सर्गः)

The phrases
Two creations have been described, the elemental one and the intellectual one. This verse locks them. No liṅga (लिङ्ग) without bhāva (भाव), no bhāva (भाव) without liṅga (लिङ्ग). A birth is both a body-stack and a character.
Sanskrit in this line
vinā (विना) with the instrumental, again, as in verse 41. Two na vinā (न विना) clauses, two dependencies.
Say it back
Say the two names of the twofold sarga (सर्ग).
