The phrases
Three steps of a lineage: the sage, Āsuri (आसुरि), Pañcaśikha (पञ्चशिख). Dative is the person to whom something is given. Two datives, two gifts.
anukampayā (अनुकम्पया) is the motive. The teaching is not won as a fee. Verse 2 had set the rite-path aside. This verse says how the knowledge-path was passed.
