Sevenths
Dominant 7ths pull to the chord a fourth above. Minor 7ths are the same minor with one finger lifted. Hal Leonard Book 1/2 — not a jazz vocabulary.
Three tracks
Beginner
Look up the first six, then A and Dm. Use the neck to see where the root sits (the square).
Intermediate
Add the six dominant 7ths and Em7 / Am7. Compare G to G7, Em to Em7 — name what moved.
Advanced
From a random letter, find the shape and the root on the neck in one glance. Then name the 7th that pulls toward it (G ← D7, C ← G7, A ← E7).
On the neck
Squares are the root; circles are the other notes. The letter in the mark is the note; the number under it is the left-hand finger: 1 index, 2 middle, 3 ring, 4 pinky.
