Haṭha Yoga Pradīpikā / 2.14 Milk and ghee at the start

2.14

Haṭha (हठ) Yoga Pradīpikā (प्रदीपिका)

अभ्यासकाले प्रथमे शस्तं क्षीराज्यभोजनम् ।
ततोऽभ्यासे दृढीभूते न तादृङ्नियमग्रहः
abhyāsakāle prathame śastaṃ kṣīrājyabhojanam |
tato'bhyāse dṛḍhībhūte na tādṛṅniyamagrahaḥ

The line

In the first time of practice, food of milk and ghee is praised. Once the practice has become firm, that kind of clinging to a rule drops away.

नेपालीमा

अभ्यासको पहिलो कालमा दूध र घिउको भोजनको प्रशंसा गरिन्छ। अभ्यास स्थिर भएपछि त्यस्तो नियममा टाँसिने बानी हट्छ।

Where it sits

The na (न) belongs to the second half: the clinging to that rule is what drops. Measured food itself stays, from 1.60.

Split: abhyāsa (अभ्यास) + kāle (काले) prathame (प्रथमे) śastaṃ (शस्तं) kṣīrājya (क्षीराज्य) + bhojanam (भोजनम्) / tato'bhyāse (ततोऽभ्यासे) dṛḍhībhūte (दृढीभूते) na (न) tādṛṅ (तादृङ्) + niyama (नियम) + grahaḥ (ग्रहः)
