Colors

Index · Family · Food

A color is an adjective. It matches the noun in gender, number, and case, the way नवीनः does in Lesson 14: Adjectives.

The table gives the subject form beside a man. Beside a woman, the ः becomes आ. Beside a thing, the form ends in म्, written ं before a consonant. कृष्णः अश्वः is a black horse. कृष्णा छात्रा is a dark woman student. कृष्णं पुस्तकम् is a black book, written कृष्णं before a consonant.
