Lesson 77: A Blue Lotus
Index · Lesson 76: The King's Son · Lesson 78: Yellow-Clad
नीलोत्पलम् means “a blue lotus.” नीलम् and उत्पलम् are one thing, not a lotus of blue in the way a son is of a king. The first word describes the second. School calls this compound कर्मधारय. The ending sits on the last word.
शुभदिनम् means “a good day.” नवीनपुस्तकम् means “a new book.” महापुरुषः means “a great person.” महा is the shape महात् takes inside a compound, not महान्.
