Where it sits
Bhāskara (भास्कर)'s Vārttika (वार्त्तिक) prints a further sūtra (सूत्र) after this one: visargasvābhāvyād abahiḥ sthites tatsthitiḥ (विसर्गस्वाभाव्यादबहिः स्थितेस् तत्स्थितिः). The seventy-seven of Kṣemarāja (क्षेमराज)'s Vimarśinī (विमर्शिनी) go straight on to 3.15. This book sits the seventy-seven.
Split: yathā (यथा) + tatra (तत्र) + tathā (तथा) + anyatra (अन्यत्र)
Sanskrit, in depth

| Word | Grammar | Sense |
|---|---|---|
| yathā (यथा) | indeclinable | as, in the way that. |
| tatra (तत्र) | indeclinable | there. |
| tathā (तथा) | indeclinable | so, in that way. |
| anyatra (अन्यत्र) | indeclinable | elsewhere. anya (अन्य) is other. |
The phrases
Four indeclinables. As there, so elsewhere. No noun is in the line. The state of 3.13 is what the words point back to.
Sanskrit in this line
tathā (तथा) plus anyatra (अन्यत्र) is recited tathānyatra (तथान्यत्र). Long ā (आ) plus short a (अ) becomes long ā (आ). None of the four words takes a case.
Say it back
Say the four words, then say which earlier line supplies the thing that is the same in both places.
