Vijñāna Bhairava (विज्ञान भैरव)

bhāve tyakte niruddhā cin naiva bhāvāntaraṃ vrajet |
tadā tanmadhyabhāvena vikasatyati bhāvanā

The line

When a state is left, awareness, held back, should not go to another state. Then, by the state of that middle, contemplation opens wide.

Where it sits

This continues 61. The middle is what remains when awareness does not travel to the next state.

When a state is left, awareness is held and the verse's na (न) says she should not go to another state. Then contemplation opens by the state of that middle.

Sanskrit in this line

cit (चित्) is feminine, so niruddhā (निरुद्धा) takes the long ā (आ). The same word is citi (चिति) in later verses.

Say it back
