From here to 3.55, saṃyama (संयम) is the practice the powers come from. The word will often be omitted and only the ablative saṃyamāt (संयमात्), “from saṃyama (संयम),” will remain.

Sanskrit in this line

-tra (त्र) makes an adverb of place: eka-tra (एकत्र), “in one.” You know it from tatra (तत्र) and itaratra (इतरत्र). saṃyama (संयम) is saṃ- (सं) plus yama (यम), a holding-together. It is not a ninth limb. It is the last three as one act.

Say it back

Say the three and the condition ekatra (एकत्र). Without one object, the name does not apply.
