The phrases
Saṃyama (संयम) is applied on stages. bhūmiṣu (भूमिषु) is locative plural of the i-stem bhūmi (भूमि), “on the grounds.” One does not throw the practice at every object on the first day. The stages are the stages of the object, and of the practitioner.
Sanskrit in this line
Locative plural of an i-stem is -iṣu (इषु). bhūmi (भूमि) becomes bhūmiṣu (भूमिषु). You have had -su (सु) on a-stems and -āsu (आसु) on ā-stems (आस्तेम्स्). -ṣu (षु) is the shape after i (इ). The s (स्) becomes ṣ (ष्) after i (इ).
Say it back
Say where it is applied: bhūmiṣu (भूमिषु). The ending is the lesson.
