Haṭha Yoga Pradīpikā / 4.15 Breath and mind, both to dissolution

4.15

Haṭha (हठ) Yoga Pradīpikā (प्रदीपिका)

jñānaṃ kuto manasi sambhavatīha tāvat prāṇo'pi jīvati mano mriyate na yāvat |
prāṇo mano dvayam idaṃ vilayaṃ nayed yo mokṣaṃ sa gacchati naro na kathaṃcid anyaḥ

The line

Knowledge does not arise in the mind while prāṇa (प्राण) still lives and the mind is not dead. The man who brings this pair, prāṇa (प्राण) and mind, to dissolution goes to release. The verse asks how anyone else would.

Where it sits

The na yāvat (न यावत्) and the na kathaṃcid (न कथंचिद्) are the verse's own. Release waits on both going to laya (लय).
