लभते means “he obtains.” School calls these endings आत्मनेपद, the middle. The पठति endings are परस्मैपद. A middle verb does not take ति. It takes ते.

सेवते means “he serves.” वर्धते means “he grows.” Both follow लभते.

SentenceMeaning
छात्रः फलं लभते।The student obtains the fruit. विद्यार्थीले फल पाउँछ।
अहं गुरुं सेवे।I serve the teacher. सेवे follows लभे.
वृक्षः वर्धते।The tree grows.
ते फलानि लभन्ते।They obtain fruits.

Practice

  1. Say लभे, लभसे, लभते, लभामहे, लभध्वे, लभन्ते.
  2. Say छात्रः फलं लभते।
  3. Say वृक्षः वर्धते, “the tree grows.”
