अथवा शोकबाट मुक्त र प्रकाशले भरिएको वृत्ति पनि हुन्छ।

Where it sits

Anuvṛtti (अनुवृत्ति) again. The book will not repeat pravṛttiḥ (प्रवृत्तिः) while the adjectives still match it. 1.37 will change the noun.

Split: viśokā (विशोका) + vā (वा) + jyotiṣmatī (ज्योतिष्मती)

Sanskrit, in depth

The words

WordGrammarSense
viśokā (विशोका)nominative singular, femininefree of sorrow. vi- (वि) “apart from,” śoka (शोक) “sorrow.”
vā (वा)indeclinableor.
jyotiṣmatī (ज्योतिष्मती)nominative singular, femininefull of light. Possessing radiance.

The phrases

The noun is not in the line. pravṛttiḥ (प्रवृत्तिः) from 1.35 is still in force, and both words are feminine to agree with it. Or an activity that is free of sorrow, or one that is full of light. Traditional reading takes them as two further kinds, or as one activity described twice. The grammar allows both. The line is naming a support that is bright and not painful.

Sanskrit in this line

The fact is anuvṛtti (अनुवृत्ति) of a gendered noun. viśokā (विशोका) and jyotiṣmatī (ज्योतिष्मती) are feminine, so the thing they describe is the feminine pravṛttiḥ (प्रवृत्तिः) of the previous line, not a new masculine subject you have to invent.

Say it back

Say the two adjectives, then the noun they still belong to, from memory: pravṛttiḥ (प्रवृत्तिः).
