निर्विचारवैशारद्येऽध्यात्मप्रसादः

nirvicāra-vaiśāradye 'dhyātma-prasādaḥ

The line

When the reflection-free state is lucid, there is clarity of the inner self.

नेपालीमा

विचाररहित अवस्था निर्मल भएमा भित्री आत्माको स्पष्टता हुन्छ।

Where it sits

1.46 filed the samāpattis (समापत्ति) as samādhi (समाधि) with seed. This line stays inside the subtlest of them, nirvicāra (निर्विचार), and says what lucidity there feels like. It is not a new practice. It is the fruit of that one becoming clear. 1.48 will name the insight that then appears.

Split: nirvicāra (निर्विचार) + vaiśāradye (वैशारद्ये) + adhyātma (अध्यात्म) + prasādaḥ (प्रसादः)

Sanskrit, in depth

The words

WordGrammarSense
nirvicāra (निर्विचार)stemwithout reflection. From 1.44.
vaiśāradye (वैशारद्ये)locative singular of vaiśāradya (वैशारद्य)when there is lucidity. Skill that has become clear.
adhyātma (अध्यात्म)stemthe inner self, what is turned toward oneself.
prasādaḥ (प्रसादः)nominative singular, masculineclarity, a settled brightness.

The phrases

nirvicāra-vaiśāradye (निर्विचारवैशारद्ये) is locative: when the reflection-free samāpatti (समापत्ति) is lucid. adhyātma-prasādaḥ (अध्यात्मप्रसादः) is the nominative result. Clarity of the inner self.

vaiśāradye (वैशारद्ये) ends in e (ए). Before adhyātma (अध्यात्म), the a (अ) drops and avagraha marks it: vaiśāradye 'dhyātma (वैशारद्येऽध्यात्म). e (ए) + a (अ) drops the a (अ), the same family as o (ओ) + a (अ) in yatno 'bhyāsaḥ (यत्नोऽभ्यासः).

Sanskrit in this line

The new sandhi is e (ए) + a (अ). The a (अ) drops, and ऽ marks the drop. You have had o (ओ) + a (अ) since 1.13. e (ए) does the same thing. The locative -e (ए) is “when,” on an a-stem, different from the -au (औ) of an i-stem but the same job.

Say it back

Read the locative aloud until the avagraha is part of the word and not a smudge: vaiśāradye 'dhyātma (वैशारद्येऽध्यात्म).
