Where it sits

1.3 separated the seer from the activities. This line names the affliction that undoes the separation by feeling. The seer's power and the power of seeing are not the same power. asmitā (अस्मिता) is the feeling that they are.

Split: dṛś (दृश्) + darśana (दर्शन) + śaktyoḥ (शक्त्योः) + ekātmatā (एकात्मता) + iva (इव) + asmitā (अस्मिता)

The phrases

dṛg-darśana-śaktyoḥ (दृग्दर्शनशक्त्योः) is genitive dual: of the power of the seer and the power of seeing. They are two. ekātmatā iva (एकात्मता इव) says “as if one self.” ekātmatā (एकात्मता) + iva (इव) is ā (आ) + i (इ) = e (ए), recited ekātmateva (एकात्मतेव).

asmitā (अस्मिता) is the nominative. I-sense is that as-if. The line does not say the two powers are one self. It says the affliction is the seeming.

Sanskrit in this line

The new ending is the dual -oḥ (ओः), genitive, “of the two.” One ending, two powers. Do not read it as a plural of many. Dual is exactly two, the same number you met in -ābhyām (आभ्याम्), now in the genitive.

Say it back

Name the two powers, then the word that pretends they are one: asmitā (अस्मिता).
