ते प्रतिप्रसवहेयाः सूक्ष्माः
te pratiprasava-heyāḥ sūkṣmāḥ
The line
The subtle ones are to be let go by resolving them back to their source.

Where it sits
The definitions are finished. The book turns to removal. Subtle afflictions are not argued down. They resolve back into their source, which 2.4 named as ignorance, and which the later practice will thin. 2.11 handles the afflictions once they have become activities.
Split: te (ते) + pratiprasava (प्रतिप्रसव) + heyāḥ (हेयाः) + sūkṣmāḥ (सूक्ष्माः)
Sanskrit, in depth
The words
| Word | Grammar | Sense |
|---|---|---|
| te (ते) | nominative plural, masculine | they. The five afflictions. |
| pratiprasava (प्रतिप्रसव) | stem | resolving back. Returning to the source they came from. |
| heyāḥ (हेयाः) | nominative plural, masculine | to be let go. A gerundive: what one is to abandon. |
| sūkṣmāḥ (सूक्ष्माः) | nominative plural, masculine | the subtle ones. Afflictions in seed form, not yet active. |
The phrases
te (ते) points at the five. pratiprasava-heyāḥ (प्रतिप्रसवहेयाः) says they are to be let go by resolving them back. sūkṣmāḥ (सूक्ष्माः) restricts the line to the subtle ones, the dormant and the thin from 2.4. The active ones are the next line.
Sanskrit in this line
The new form is the gerundive -ya (य), here heya (हेय), “to be abandoned.” It works as an adjective in the nominative plural, agreeing with te (ते). When you see heya (हेय), read “this is to be let go,” not “this has already gone.”
Say it back
Say which ones, and how: sūkṣmāḥ (सूक्ष्माः), pratiprasava-heyāḥ (प्रतिप्रसवहेयाः).
