तदपि बहिरङ्गं निर्बीजस्य

tad api bahiraṅgaṃ nirbījasya

The line

Even they are outer limbs, compared with seedless samādhi (समाधि).

नेपालीमा

बीजरहित समाधिसँग दाँज्दा तिनीहरू पनि बाहिरी अङ्ग हुन्।

Where it sits

The warning is early, before the powers. Whatever saṃyama (संयम) produces, it is not the seedless. 3.37 will say the powers are obstacles inside samādhi (समाधि). 3.50 will say dispassion toward even the highest mastery is what gives aloneness.

Split: tat (तत्) + api (अपि) + bahiraṅgam (बहिरङ्गम्) + nirbījasya (निर्बीजस्य)

The words

WordGrammarSense
tat (तत्)nominative singular, neuterthat. The three.
api (अपि)indeclinableeven.
bahiraṅgam (बहिरङ्गम्)nominative singular, neuteran outer limb. bahis (बहि) “outer.”
nirbījasya (निर्बीजस्य)genitive singularof the seedless. Compared with seedless samādhi (समाधि).

The phrases

Even that three is an outer limb of the seedless. nirbījasya (निर्बीजस्य) is genitive, “of the seedless one,” the standard of comparison. 1.51 named nirbījaḥ samādhiḥ (निर्बीजः समाधिः). Relative to that, saṃyama (संयम) still has an object. It is outer.

Sanskrit in this line

Genitive used as the standard of comparison, beside the ablative of 3.7. Both can mark “compared with.” bahiraṅga (बहिरङ्ग) and antaraṅga (अन्तरङ्ग) are a pair of compounds. api (अपि) is “even,” so the line is a correction of 3.7, not a cancellation. They are inner, and even so outer.

Say it back

Say both comparisons: inner than the earlier, outer to the seedless.
