kāya-rūpa-saṃyamāt tad-grāhya-śakti-stambhe cakṣuḥ-prakāśāsaṃprayoge 'ntardhānam

The line

From saṃyama (संयम) on the form of the body, when the power of being grasped is suspended and the eye's light does not meet it, one is unseen.

नेपालीमा

शरीरको रूपमा संयमबाट, समातिने शक्ति रोकिएर आँखाको प्रकाश नमिलेपछि, मानिस अदृश्य हुन्छ।

Where it sits

The first of the bodily powers. 3.22 is next: knowledge of the end, from action already underway or not, or from omens. Some books add a line here, etena śabdādy antardhānam uktam (एतेन शब्दाद्यन्तर्धानमुक्तम्), and number from 3.22 one higher. This book omits it.

Split: kāya (काय) + rūpa (रूप) + saṃyamāt (संयमात्) + tat (तत्) + grāhya (ग्राह्य) + śakti (शक्ति) + stambhe (स्तम्भे) + cakṣus (चक्षु) + prakāśa (प्रकाश) + asaṃprayoge (असंप्रयोगे) + antardhānam (अन्तर्धानम्)

The phrases

From saṃyama (संयम) on the body's form, when the power of being grasped is suspended, and when the eye's light does not meet it, there is disappearance. Two locatives give the conditions. prakāśa (प्रकाश) + asaṃprayoga (असंप्रयोग) is a (अ) + a (अ) = ā (आ). asaṃprayoge antardhāna (असंप्रयोगे अन्तर्धान) is e (ए) + a (अ), the a (अ) dropped, avagraha: 'ntardhānam (ऽन्तर्धानम्).

Unseen means the join between eye and form does not happen. It does not mean the body is gone.

Sanskrit in this line

Two locatives as conditions, and e (ए) + a (अ) with avagraha at the end. antardhāna (अन्तर्धान) is “placing within,” disappearance from view. The ablative saṃyamāt (संयमात्) is still the pattern.

Say it back

Say the two conditions that have to be true before the disappearance. Both are locative.

Next
