कूर्मनाड्यां स्थैर्यम्

kūrma-nāḍyāṃ sthairyam

The line

On the tortoise channel, steadiness.

नेपालीमा

कूर्म नाडीमा स्थिरता हुन्छ।

Where it sits

A one-fruit line. Steadiness was sthiti (स्थिति) and sthairya (स्थैर्य) before. Here it is the fruit of a particular object. The crown is next.

Split: kūrma (कूर्म) + nāḍyām (नाड्याम्) + sthairyam (स्थैर्यम्)

Sanskrit, in depth

The words

WordGrammarSense
kūrma (कूर्म)stema tortoise.
nāḍyām (नाड्याम्)locative singular of nāḍī (नाडी)on the channel. On the tortoise channel.
sthairyam (स्थैर्यम्)nominative singular, neutersteadiness.

The phrases

On the tortoise channel, steadiness. nāḍī (नाडी) is an ī-stem (ईस्तेम्), locative -yām (याम्), the same shape as pratiṣṭhāyām (प्रतिष्ठायाम्). The line does not locate the channel in the body. The name is the location the tradition knows. The fruit is steadiness.

Sanskrit in this line

Locative of an ī-stem (ईस्तेम्): nāḍī (नाडी) becomes nāḍyām (नाड्याम्). The -y- (य्) is the glide before the ending. You met -āyām (आयाम्) on pratiṣṭhā (प्रतिष्ठा). Same ending family.

Say it back

Say the locative ending clearly: nāḍyām (नाड्याम्). That ending is the lesson.
