The words

WordGrammarSense
hṛdaye (हृदये)locative singularon the heart.
citta (चित्त)stemthe mind.
saṃvit (संवित्)nominative singular, feminineknowledge, a knowing. Knowledge of the mind.

The phrases

On the heart, knowledge of the mind. saṃvit (संवित्) is a feminine nominative that does not show an extra ending on the page. It is the noun “knowing.” The locative is the object, saṃyama (संयम) understood.

Sanskrit in this line

saṃvit (संवित्) is a root noun, nominative the same shape as the stem. When you see a word with no visible ending at the end of a power line, it can still be the nominative fruit. Context and the parallel lines tell you.

Say it back

Say the place and the fruit. Mind, not puruṣa (पुरुष). The next line needs that difference.

Next

3.35. Experience is an idea that does not distinguish sattva and puruṣa, which are utterly unmixed, and it is for the sake of another. From saṃyama on what is for oneself, knowledge of puruṣa.
