grahaṇa-svarūpāsmitānvayārthavattva-saṃyamād indriya-jayaḥ

The line

From saṃyama (संयम) on grasping, essence, I-sense, inherence, and purposiveness, mastery of the senses.

नेपालीमा

ग्रहण, स्वरूप, अस्मिता, अन्वय र अर्थवत्त्वमा संयमबाट इन्द्रियको वश हुन्छ।

Where it sits

Parallel to the elements. Where the elements had gross form, the senses have grasping and I-sense. 3.48 is the fruit: speed of mind, functioning without a sense-organ, mastery of pradhāna (प्रधान).

Split: grahaṇa (ग्रहण) + svarūpa (स्वरूप) + asmitā (अस्मिता) + anvaya (अन्वय) + arthavattva (अर्थवत्त्व) + saṃyamāt (संयमात्) + indriya (इन्द्रिय) + jayaḥ (जयः)

The phrases

The same five-layer shape as 3.44, fitted to the senses. Grasping, essence, I-sense, inherence, purposiveness. svarūpa (स्वरूप) + asmitā (अस्मिता) is a (अ) + a (अ) = ā (आ). asmitā (अस्मिता) + anvaya (अन्वय) is ā (आ) + a (अ) = ā (आ). From saṃyama (संयम) on them, mastery of the senses. saṃyamād (संयमाद्) before indriya (इन्द्रिय).

Sanskrit in this line

Count five again. The third item changed: asmitā (अस्मिता) instead of sūkṣma (सूक्ष्म). That is the difference between the two masteries. The sandhi ā (आ) + a (अ) = ā (आ) joins I-sense to inherence.

Say it back

Say the five, and mark the one that was not in the element list.
