Haṭha Yoga Pradīpikā / 4.26 Bind the rasa, bind the mind

4.26

Haṭha (हठ) Yoga Pradīpikā (प्रदीपिका)

रसस्य मनसश् चैव चञ्चलत्वं स्वभावतः ।
रसो बद्धो मनो बद्धं किं न सिद्ध्यति भूतले
rasasya manasaś caiva cañcalatvaṃ svabhāvataḥ |
raso baddho mano baddhaṃ kiṃ na siddhyati bhūtale

The line

Restlessness belongs to rasa and to the mind by their own being. When rasa is bound, the mind is bound. What then would fail to succeed on the earth?

नेपालीमा

चञ्चलता रस र मनको आफ्नै स्वभाव हो। रस बाँधिँदा मन बाँधिन्छ। तब पृथ्वीमा के चाहिँ सिद्ध नहोला?

Where it sits

Rasa (रस) here is the vital juice, kin to the drop. The verse treats it and the mind as the restless pair.

Split: rasasya (रसस्य) manasaś (मनसश्) caiva (चैव) cañcalatvaṃ (चञ्चलत्वं) svabhāvataḥ (स्वभावतः) / raso (रसो) baddho (बद्धो) mano (मनो) baddhaṃ (बद्धं) kiṃ (किं) na (न) siddhyati (सिद्ध्यति) bhūtale (भूतले)
