Lesson 111: I Shall Release

Index · Lesson 110: He Said · Lesson 112: Do Not Grieve

Lesson 48: He Causes has पाठयति, “he causes to read.” Lesson 23: The Future has भविष्यति. A causative in the future puts इष्य into the causative stem. पाठयति becomes पाठयिष्यति, “he will cause to read.”

मुच् means “release,” छोड्नु. The present that follows पठति is मुञ्चति, “he lets go.” The stem is मुञ्च, not a present built on मुच्, the same kind of note as तिष्ठति. मुञ्चामि, मुञ्चसि, मुञ्चति, मुञ्चामः, मुञ्चथ, मुञ्चन्ति.

The causative is मोक्षयति, “he frees,” and it follows पाठयति. The future is मोक्षयिष्यामि, “I shall free.”

वक्ष्यामि means “I shall say,” म भन्नेछु. Say it whole. It is the future of वच्, not a form built on ब्रू. A verse uses it where the book would use a future of ब्रवीति.
