Lesson 90: He Can
Index · Lesson 89: A Prefix on the Verb · Lesson 91: Having Eaten, He Goes
शक्नोति means “he can,” or “he is able.” It does not follow पठति. Say the row whole. The thing he can do is the infinitive from Lesson 44: In Order to Read.
| Can | |
|---|---|
| अहम् | शक्नोमि |
| त्वम् | शक्नोषि |
| सः / सा | शक्नोति |
| वयम् | शक्नुमः |
| यूयम् | शक्नुथ |
| ते | शक्नुवन्ति |
The “we” form is शक्नुमः, with उ, not शक्नोमः.
| Sentence | Meaning |
|---|---|
| अहं पठितुं शक्नोमि। | I can read. पढ्न म सक्छु। पठितुम् is written पठितुं before a consonant. |
