Where it sits

This closes the Īśvara (ईश्वर) passage. The dedication was a way. The way has two fruits. The obstacles themselves are the next three lines, because the line has just said they fall away and has not yet said what they are.

Split: tataḥ (ततः) + pratyak (प्रत्यक्) + cetanā (चेतना) + adhigamaḥ (अधिगमः) + api (अपि) + antarāya (अन्तराय) + abhāvaḥ (अभावः) + ca (च)

The phrases

pratyak-cetanādhigamaḥ (प्रत्यक्चेतनाधिगमः) is the first result: arrival at inward awareness. cetanā (चेतना) + adhigama (अधिगम) is ā (आ) + a (अ) = ā (आ). Before api (अपि), adhigamaḥ (अधिगमः) is recited adhigamo 'pi (अधिगमोऽपि).

antarāyābhāvaḥ ca (अन्तरायाभावः च) is the second result, joined by ca (च). antarāya (अन्तराय) + abhāva (अभाव) is a (अ) + a (अ) = ā (आ). Before ca (च), abhāvaḥ (अभावः) becomes abhāvaś (अभावश्), the same aḥ (अः) + c (च्) you learned in 1.2.

Sanskrit in this line

No ending you have not met. Use this line to hear three sandhis you already own, in one breath: ā (आ) + a (अ) = ā (आ), aḥ (अः) + a (अ) = o (ओ) with avagraha, and aḥ (अः) + c (च्) = ś (श्). ca (च) is the word that makes the second nominative a second result, not a synonym of the first.

Say it back

Say the two results, and the little word that joins them. Do not drop ca (च).
