Nyāya Sūtra / Adhyāya 3 / 3.2.15

न पयसः परिणाम-गुणान्तरप्रादुर्भावात्

na payasaḥ pariṇāma-guṇāntaraprādurbhāvāt

The line

Not payasa (पयस), because of a compound: transformation, -guṇā (-गुणा), ntara (न्तर), prādu (प्रादु), and rbhāva (र्भाव).

Where it sits

In Nyāya (न्याय) Sūtra (सूत्र), adhyāya (अध्याय) 3. Examines the objects: the self, the body, the senses, the mind. The line is short. liṅga-taḥa (लिङ्ग-तःअ) from 3.2.14 is still in force. A sūtra (सूत्र) leaves a word out when the line before still holds it. That carrying is anuvṛtti (अनुवृत्ति).

Split: na (न) + payasaḥ (पयसः) + pariṇāma--guṇā-ntara-prādu-rbhāvāt (परिणाम--गुणा-न्तर-प्रादु-र्भावात्)
