Nyāya Sūtra / Adhyāya 3 / 3.2.26

न, अन्तः-शरीरवृत्तित्वात् मनसः

na, antaḥ-śarīravṛttitvāt manasaḥ

The line

Not a compound: anta (अन्त), ḥ-śa (ः-श), rīra (रीर), an activity of the mind, and tvāta (त्वात), the mind.

Where it sits

In Nyāya (न्याय) Sūtra (सूत्र), adhyāya (अध्याय) 3. Examines the objects: the self, the body, the senses, the mind. The line is short. jñāna-sama-vetātma-pradeśa-sannikarṣāt (ज्ञान-सम-वेतात्म-प्रदेश-सन्निकर्षात्) from 3.2.25 is still in force. A sūtra (सूत्र) leaves a word out when the line before still holds it. That carrying is anuvṛtti (अनुवृत्ति).

Split: na (न) + anta-ḥ-śa-rīra-vṛtti-tvāta (अन्त-ः-श-रीर-वृत्ति-त्वात) + manasaḥ (मनसः)
