Lesson 109: Say, and Know
Index · Lesson 108: He Obtains · Lesson 110: He Said
Lesson 39: He Says has ब्रवीति. The command to a friend is not ब्रवीहि. It is ब्रूहि. “Say.”
| You, तिमी | He, she, or तपाईं | You all | They, or तपाईंहरू | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Say | ब्रूहि | ब्रवीतु | ब्रूत | ब्रुवन्तु |
विद् means “know,” जान्नु, the old verb beside जानाति. Learn four forms whole. They do not follow पठति.
| Form | Meaning |
|---|---|
| विद्धि | know. The command to a friend. जान। |
| वेद | I know, and also he knows. The one shape covers both. जान्दछु, and जान्दछ। |
| वेत्थ | you know. जान्दछौ। |
| विदुः | they know. The same shape returns in Lesson 110: He Said as a perfect. जान्दछन्। |
शृणु, “hear,” is already the command in Lesson 19: Commands.
| Sentence | Meaning |
|---|---|
| हे गुरो, ब्रूहि। | Teacher, say. हे गुरो, भन्नुहोस्। The call is गुरो, from lesson 25. A friend would be हे मित्र, ब्रूहि। |
| मां विद्धि। | Know me. मलाई जान। |
| अहं वेद। | I know. |
| त्वं वेत्थ। | You know. त्वम् is written त्वं before वेत्थ. |
