Lesson 30: Small Words has इति as “thus,” at the end of what was said. This lesson builds the sentence. The words that were said come first. इति closes them. The verb of saying comes after इति, or the hearer comes after it.
वदति and ब्रवीति are Lesson 39: He Says. शृणोमि is Lesson 16: To Hear.
| Sentence | Meaning |
|---|---|
| गुरुः पठ इति वदति। | The teacher says, “Read.” गुरुले पढ भन्नुहुन्छ। |
| सः अहं गच्छामि इति वदति। | He says, “I am going.” |
| पठ इति अहं शृणोमि। | I hear, “Read.” |
| मम नाम बिकासः इति सः ब्रवीति। | He says that my name is Bikash. |
इति does not take an ending. It is the same word in every sentence.
