Seasons

ऋतुः means a season, ऋतु. It is like गुरुः, from Lesson 25: The Teacher's Endings. There are six. Two months from Months sit in each one.

वर्षा is like छात्रा. The subject has no visarga. “In the rains” is वर्षायाम्, written वर्षायां before a consonant.

शरत् is the subject form of autumn. It ends in त्, not in ः. The other jobs of शरत् wait, except the “in” form, which is शरदि.

Sentences

Sentence	Meaning
वसन्तः अस्ति।	It is spring. वसन्त हो।
वसन्ते पुष्पाणि सन्ति।	In spring there are flowers. वसन्तमा फूल हुन्छन्। पुष्पाणि is “flowers,” the plural of पुष्पम्, from Lesson 9: Neuter Plural.
ग्रीष्मे अहं जलं पिबामि।	In the hot season I drink water. गर्मीमा म पानी पिउँछु।
वर्षायां वृष्टिः अस्ति।	In the rains there is rainfall. वर्षामा पानी पर्छ। वृष्टिः means “rain, rainfall,” वर्षा. It is like बुद्धिः. The season वर्षा and the falling rain वृष्टिः are two words.
शरदि अहं पठामि।	In autumn I study. शरदमा म पढ्छु।
हेमन्ते शीतम् अस्ति।	In early winter it is cold. हेमन्तमा जाडो हुन्छ। शीतम् means “cold,” जाडो. It is like पुस्तकम्.
शिशिरे हिमम् अस्ति।	In late winter there is snow. शिशिरमा हिउँ हुन्छ। हिमम् means “snow,” हिउँ. It is like पुस्तकम्.

Times of Day is morning, noon, evening, and night.
