Times of Day
दिनम् means day, दिन. It is like पुस्तकम्. रात्रिः means night, रात. It is like बुद्धिः, and Lesson 28: Thought and Night already has it. This page is the parts of the day, and the words for yesterday and tomorrow.
Some of these words do not take endings. They sit beside the sentence, the way अद्य and श्वः do in Lesson 30: Small Words.

प्रातः, सायम्, अद्य, ह्यः, श्वः, and परश्वः do not change for case. सायम् keeps म् before a vowel and is written सायं before a consonant.
“In the morning,” as a case, is प्रभाते, like छात्रे. “At noon” is मध्याह्ने. “In the afternoon” is अपराह्णे. “At midnight” is अर्धरात्रे.
