tantrādhikaraṇābhyupagamasaṃsthitiḥ siddhāntaḥ
The line
An established tenet is a settling reached by a system, by a topic, or by an acceptance.
नेपालीमा
सिद्धान्त त्यो निश्चय हो जुन दर्शनबाट, विषयबाट, वा स्वीकारबाट पुगिन्छ।
Where it sits
siddhānta (सिद्धान्त) from 1.1.1 is the word being defined.
Split: tantra-adhikaraṇa-abhyupagama-saṃsthitiḥ (तन्त्र-अधिकरण-अभ्युपगम-संस्थितिः) + siddhāntaḥ (सिद्धान्तः)
Sanskrit, in depth
The words
| Word | Grammar | Sense |
|---|---|---|
| tantra-adhikaraṇa-abhyupagama-saṃsthitiḥ (तन्त्र-अधिकरण-अभ्युपगम-संस्थितिः) | nominative singular, feminine | a settling through a system, a topic, or an acceptance |
| siddhāntaḥ (सिद्धान्तः) | nominative singular, masculine | an established tenet |
The phrases
siddhānta (सिद्धान्त) is a position one may use as settled. saṃsthiti (संस्थिति) is the standing-firm of that position. Three words say how it gets its standing: tantra, a system of teaching; adhikaraṇa (अधिकरण), a topic under discussion; abhyupagama, an acceptance.
The next line says this settling is fourfold. So this compound is the general name, and the division follows. Do not force four kinds out of the three nouns yet.
Sanskrit in this line
saṃsthiti (संस्थिति) is feminine, from sam-sthā (सम्-स्था). The compound is one nominative, and siddhāntaḥ (सिद्धान्तः) is the second. Their genders differ, as in the other definitional pairs.
Say it back
Hold saṃsthiti (संस्थिति) as the genus. The next five lines divide it.

1.1.27. That tenet is of four kinds, because the four settlings are different things.
