नेपालीमा
विषयसिद्धान्त त्यो हो जसको स्थापनामा अर्को विषय स्थापित हुन्छ।
Where it sits
adhikaraṇa (अधिकरण) from 1.1.27 is the kind being defined. siddhānta (सिद्धान्त) is still the genus from 1.1.26.
Split: yat-siddhau (यत्-सिद्धौ) + anya-prakaraṇa-siddhiḥ (अन्य-प्रकरण-सिद्धिः) + saḥ (सः) + adhikaraṇa-siddhāntaḥ (अधिकरण-सिद्धान्तः)
Sanskrit, in depth
The words
| Word | Grammar | Sense |
|---|---|---|
| yat-siddhau (यत्-सिद्धौ) | locative singular, feminine | when which is established |
| anya-prakaraṇa-siddhiḥ (अन्य-प्रकरण-सिद्धिः) | nominative singular, feminine | the establishment of another topic |
| saḥ (सः) | nominative singular, masculine | that |
| adhikaraṇa-siddhāntaḥ (अधिकरण-सिद्धान्तः) | nominative singular, masculine | a tenet that is a topic |
The phrases
Some tenets do more than stand on their own. When this one is established, a different prakaraṇa (प्रकरण), a different discussion, is established with it.
yat correlates with saḥ (सः). siddhau is locative, 'on the establishment of which', used as a locative of circumstance. The tenet is called adhikaraṇa (अधिकरण) because other inquiries rest on it.
Sanskrit in this line
yatsiddhau before anya is recited yatsiddhāv (यत्सिद्धाव्), because au before a vowel becomes āv (आव्). siddhiḥ (सिद्धिः) before saḥ (सः) is recited siddhis. saḥ (सः) before a vowel a is recited so, with avagraha: so 'dhikaraṇasiddhāntaḥ (धिकरणसिद्धान्तः).
Say it back
Gloss adhikaraṇasiddhānta (अधिकरणसिद्धान्त) by the pair yatsiddhau and anyaprakaraṇasiddhi (अन्यप्रकरणसिद्धि).
