क्षत्रियत्वगतेश् च

kṣatriyatvagateś ca

The line

And because we arrive at his being a kṣatriya (क्षत्रिय), the word is not the class-name.

र हामी उसको क्षत्रिय हुनुमा पुग्छौं, त्यसैले शब्द जातिको नाम होइन।

Where it sits

The śūdra-word of 1.3.33 is still the word being explained. The person is still Jānaśruti (जानश्रुति). The next line gives a later mark of the same status.

Split: kṣatriyatva-gateḥ (क्षत्रियत्व-गतेः) + ca (च)

The phrases

gati here is an arriving, a coming to know. Jānaśruti (जानश्रुति) is a king, a rājanya (राजन्य), which the narrative makes plain. kṣatriyatva (क्षत्रियत्व) is that status.

ca adds this to the grief-etymology. A man the story treats as a kṣatriya (क्षत्रिय) is not being introduced as a member of the fourth class. The address śūdra (शूद्र) stays on the side of grief.

Sanskrit in this line

gati is feminine, ablative -eḥ (-एः), recited -eś (-एश्) before ca. kṣatriya-tva (क्षत्रिय-त्व) is neuter, 'the state of a kṣatriya (क्षत्रिय)', inside the compound.

Say it back

Say what he is in the story: a king. The address is not his class.
