Lesson 47: Do Not Go

Index · Lesson 46: He Might Read · Lesson 48: He Causes

Lesson 30: Small Words builds “do not go” as न गच्छ, from the command in Lesson 19: Commands. That line stays. Classical prose also says मा स्म, and then the same command.

मा स्म गच्छ। “Do not go.” नजाऊ। मा स्म पठ। “Do not read.” मा स्म कुरु। “Do not do it.”

A verse often uses a shorter shape. Recognize these two, and say them whole. Their other persons are not in this lesson.
