Nāṭyaśāstra (नाट्यशास्त्र), rasa

ṣaṇṇāṃ rasānāṃ traividhyaṃ nānābhāvārasānvitam |
sattvaprayojito hyarthaḥ prayogo 'tra virājate |
viditvā hi virājante loke citraṃ hi durlabham

The line

Of six rasa (रस) states, the threefold, joined with many states and rasa (रस) states. A meaning impelled by sattva (सत्त्व) shines here in the performance. Knowing it, they shine. In the world, variety is hard to obtain.

Where it sits

Still bracketed, and a long line. Six of the rasa (रस) states receive the threefold division. The verse then praises the performance that sattva (सत्त्व) drives, and says variety is rare. The six are the ones 7.119*7 did not except.

Split: ṣaṇṇāṃ (षण्णां) rasānāṃ (रसानां) traividhyaṃ (त्रैविध्यं) nānābhāvārasānvitam (नानाभावारसान्वितम्) / sattvaprayojito (सत्त्वप्रयोजितो) hyarthaḥ (ह्यर्थः) prayogo (प्रयोगो) 'tra (ऽत्र) virājate (विराजते) / viditvā (विदित्वा) hi (हि) virājante (विराजन्ते) loke (लोके) citraṃ (चित्रं) hi (हि) durlabham (दुर्लभम्)
